Werner Gruner has been serving in various capacities in the financial industry for over a decade and guides high net worth families, persons and entrepreneurs on international economic affairs.

Before accepting the position of Vice President at Swiss banking group SYZ (awarded “Best Private Banking Boutique” globally in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 by Financial Times publications), he served as Director at Swiss private bank, Julius Baer and Andorran private bank, Andbank where he gained extensive experience in international private banking and solutions.

He has been an invitee speaker at conferences in South Africa, Kenya, the U.S. and The Bahamas - where he has been domiciled since 2007.  In 2012, Mr. Gruner was recognized with the “Professional of the Year” award, presented by Minister of Financial Services, the Honorable Ryan Pinder and the Bahamas Financial Services Board.

Mr. Gruner holds a Banking and Finance Diploma in Private Banking from the Credit Suisse Business School and is fluent in English, Afrikaans and German. He is also a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver as well as a private pilot.

Born in South Africa, Mr. Gruner attained an acute concentration in the improvement of developing nations and has completed analysis-expeditions to various emergent countries including Nigeria, Ethiopia, Kenya, Syria, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan and Myanmar.

In 2012, he established the Starlight Global Foundation, now Starlight Global, Inc., with a mission to empower people by investing in their education, culture and economic autonomy. The entity is a United States registered, nonprofit 501(c)(3) exempt private foundation and has supported notable events and projects in South Africa and The Bahamas.


Ryno Venter

Mr. Ryno Venter is the Managing Partner of Capitor (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd. and offers a wide-ranging career which has been strategically assimilated over a decade with targeted proficiency in a myriad of market sectors including finance, banking, fiduciary and legal services, property management, entertainment and hospitality.

Upon completion of his secondary education at Paul Roos Gymnasium with 5 distinctions, Mr. Venter attained his BA Law degree in 2003 at the University of Stellenbosch, which steered him to pursue his Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein. Upon completion of this notable academic achievement, Mr. Venter was welcomed into the Financial Planning Institute of South Africa (FPI®) as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®).

Mr. Venter is also a distinguished associate of the Fiduciary Institute of South Africa (FISA®) as a Senior Trust Administrator, Senior Will Drafter, Senior Financial Planner and Senior Estate Planner while currently serving as Chairman to the Western Cape Committee of FISA® which in turn affords him a seat on the National Council of the said professional society. Similarly, he embraces the designation of Fiduciary Professional South Africa (FPSA®).

Accompanying his financial planning certification, Mr. Venter is also registered as a General Tax Practitioner South Africa (GTP(SA)™) with the South African Institute of Tax Professionals (SAIT) and is a member of the Institute of Directors South Africa (IODSA).


Jaco van Niekerk

In 1995, Mr. van Niekerk started his career within the investment banking world at Nedbank in South Africa. He then left and started his own advisory business in structured finance where he successfully raised capital for various blue chip companies in South Africa. In 2003 he founded Sizwe Asset Finance which provided innovative structured products for asset finance. In 2007 he pioneered a finance division for Africa’s largest IT distributer. In 2015 he co-founded Luxuriant raising funding for companies ranging from IT, telecoms, medical as well as structuring facilities, dealing in hedge funds and private equity transactions. He has facilitated over $1bn in finance transactions throughout his career.


Therina Gruner

Capitor (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd.


Mrs. Therina Gruner is a dual citizen of South Africa and Switzerland and principally concentrated on health and régime elements at Capitor (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd.

In addition to her BA Psychology degree from the University of Pretoria she retains further qualifications that comprise diplomas in beauty, lymph-drainage, foot-reflexology and Shiatsu, which were obtained in Germany while she was residing in Switzerland.

During her career, Mrs. Gruner also occupied various administrative positions in government, tourism, real estate, credit controlling and legal services.

After returning to South Africa, she garnered extensive experience as a caretaker for patients dealing with Alzheimer’s and dementia by spending time and forming friendships with them.

Mrs. Gruner is fluent in English, Afrikaans, German and Swiss German affording her a distinctive advantage to understanding the needs of individuals that require special care and attention.


Mark Elliott

Senior Vice President

Mr. Mark Elliot obtained a degree in investment management, economics and information systems before working at a leading investment bank, Investec in South Africa for 10 years. He worked in the Specialized Lending team structuring asset based finance transactions, M&A transactions and corporate lending. Thereafter he worked at investment bank, RMB for 2 years in a similar role. More recently Mr. Elliott joined an offshore structuring company heading up the Corporate Finance division based in Mauritius where he facilitated a number of transactions from a capital raising and advisory perspective.

Kirk Bouffard

Mr. Kirk Bouffard is the Managing Partner of Capitor (USA) LLC and contributes to strategic initiatives related to blockchain as well as financial technology consulting. In addition, he manages the day-to-day operations of the firm including client development and retention.

Mr. Bouffard began his career in the hospitality field where he eventually managed business units consisting of 200+ employees with annual revenue of USD 35 million per year.

Since 2005, he has overseen operations, business development and client interaction in a variety of roles spanning management, sales, and marketing in numerous markets worldwide including Las Vegas, Nassau, St. Tropez and Singapore. Valuable experienced was gained by working with the Hakkasan Group, Atlantis Paradise Island and CÉ LA VI while providing him with unique skills to manage a multi-cultural operation and drive a high-level experience while continually delivering an unmatched product offering.

Beginning in 2015, Mr. Bouffard invested in numerous innovative fintech companies such as DanaBijak and Change where he played a key role in helping to drive the multiple businesses to flourish with one company alone raising over USD 17.5 million.  

Companies who engage Mr. Bouffard to advise on the potential to apply this technology to their product offerings undoubtedly benefit from his experience in the field as well as his deep network of industry leaders.


Jason Leach

Chief Technology Officer

Mr. Jason Leach’s background originates in hardware, software design and integration with embedded systems. This culminated in his ability to focus on rapid prototyping.

His formal training is in computer, electrical engineering and computer science that was done at FIT (Florida Institute of Technology). Most of his time was spent in the electrical support lab that later became Space Coast Fabrication Laboratory (The largest fabrication laboratory on the East Coast of the United States). Here his skills were honed being provided ample resources to grow and learn in addition to being surrounded by like minded individuals accelerating his development in the technology space.

Later returning to The Bahamas and interested in advancing himself and the country as a whole, he lead a group called “Data Minds” which was an educational initiative focused on different disciplines from cyber security, web development, app development, game development, SEO (search engine optimization) and AI (artificial intelligence).

Mr. Leach focused his attention specifically on blockchain technology and the different forms it takes. From DLT (distributed ledger technology) to smart contracts, dApps (decentralized applications) and DAO (decentralized autonomous organizations).


Elena Prandoni

Mrs. Elena Prandoni completed her studies at the Institut auf dem Rosenberg in St. Gallen, Switzerland as well as at the University of San Diego in the United States.

She has a strong passion for charitable work and has been involved with numerous outreaches. Mostly during the 90s she spent a considerable amount of time at the Catholic Hospital in Wamba, Kenya to help develop awareness of women rights.

Mrs. Prandoni's business career originated at B&G Consulting SA in Lugano, Switzerland where she started as a Portfolio Manager. Later she opened offices in Asia and Latin America under Prandoni Investments with USD 100 million Assets under Management (AuM) at the time.

In 2009 she relocated to Nassau, Bahamas to continue the business under P&C Consulting. Recently she also developed a hospitality business with her husband, Yannick Ledard.

With her broad international background, Mrs. Prandoni is fluent in English, Italian and Spanish and places high value on people and relationships.


Matthias Erny

Mr. Matthias Erny, a Swiss private banker at Julius Baer in Zurich, Switzerland, is a Director of Starlight Global, Inc. and responsible for new international charitable initiatives. 

His Private Banking career started at Credit Suisse in Zurich as a Relationship Manager serving clients located mainly in Europe and Israel. Mr. Erny later accepted an offer to join Julius Baer where he has been advising clients on financial affairs for over a decade.

Prior to advising clients, he gained valuable experience in the insurance business as well as in option trading.

Mr. Erny holds an Advanced Swiss Federal Diploma of Higher Education in Business Administration and is fluent in German and English. In addition, due to his involvement in the motion picture industry, he also operates a popular blog called "The Dreaming Sheep".


Dr. Gerdus Kemp

Dr. Kemp completed a PhD in Radiochemistry (2004) at the Rand Afrikaans University in Johannesburg, South Africa. During this time (1999 – 2001) he was appointed as a senior lecturer in radiochemistry at the department of Nuclear Medicine and Medical Physics at the University of the Free State, South Africa. In 2000 Dr. Kemp left the academia for the private sector and was a co-founder of Nuclear MedScience (Pty) Ltd., of which he was the Managing Director. The latter, a company in various joint ventures with radiology practices, provides nuclear medicine services. In 2005 he moved to Pretoria where he installed the first medical cyclotron in Africa and founded PET Labs Pharmaceuticals (Pty) Ltd. Dr. Kemp served on the South African Society of Nuclear Medicine. In addition to those positions, he also served on the board of the World Federation of Nuclear Medicine and Biology from 2006 – 2010. Dr. Kemp is a board member of Molybdos (Pty) Ltd. A company that is active in the separation of stable isotopes for medicinal use.


John Chapman

Senior Vice President

In 2005, Mr. John Chapman was approached by a large IT group to establish a finance division and was subsequently appointed as a Director and Head of Operations. Thereafter in 2010 he was approached by one of the largest IT distributers in the southern hemisphere (shareholder: Investec). In this role he headed up the full operational aspect of the company whilst also managing the corporate governance division.
